Field Operations Assistant
CTG overview

Overview of position
- Â Our client in Somalia is planning to have an EPC Infrastructure & Services Unit (ISU), in which field engineers would support activities across all EPC units based on need.
- Â Under the overall supervision of the Manager in EPC & direct supervision of, Project Officer (Shelter), the successful candidate will support the implementation & monitoring of the works developed under our clients ISU with particular focus on the following functions as mentioned in the TOR below.
Role objectives
- Â Support the EPC Field Assistants Engineer & the Technical Operations Officer on the assessment, implementation & supporting infrastructure construction, site development, maintenance & improvement works.
- Â Undertake field missions to affected communities to assist assess the general situation, conduct focus group discussions & check housing conditions in coordination with the Technical Operation Officer & the EPC Field Assistant Engineer.
- Â Assist to Inspect damage, accidents or delays at construction sites to verify proper construction procedures are being carried out in coordination with supervisor.
- Â Help to convey instruction to the contractor for improvement of works or remedial measures to take.
- Â Consolidate information & support in preparing work plans, updates, progress monitoring reports, assist in the preparation of daily, weekly & monthly reports.
- Â Based on field monitoring, provide lessons learned for all ongoing field activities.
- Â Maintain a systematic record of all documents related to beneficiary & project documents.
- Â Support in providing technical assistance for other programs in EPC as needed in coordination with the EPC Field Assistants.
- Â Perform other tasks as assigned.
Project reporting
This role works under the overall supervision of the Manager in EPC & direct supervision of, Project Officer (Shelter). Key competencies
- Â Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any other relevant field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience in construction or high school / degree / certificate from above field from an accredited institution with four years of professional experience in implementation of infrastructure works activities in emergency & conflict environments.
- Â Experience in working effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries & the broader community.
- Â General site planning knowledge in camp setup under emergency context with a civil engineering degree is an advantage.
- Â Experience in emergency operation activity.

- Â Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Â Delivers on set objectives in hardship situations.
- Â Knowledge of English & Somali, are required (oral & written) & working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
